What is SHA?

The Social Health Authority (SHA) is Kenya's new public health insurance system that replaced NHIF. It provides accessible, affordable, and quality health insurance for all Kenyan citizens and legal residents.

Three Main Funds

SHA manages three insurance schemes: Primary Healthcare Fund, Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund. This comprehensive approach ensures all health needs are covered.

Mandatory Enrollment

Unlike previous systems, SHA enrollment is mandatory for all Kenyans. Contributions are based on income, making healthcare accessible to everyone regardless of economic status.
